The final Harry Potter movie has already made history.
At the time of writing, the final film in the series already brought in more than $32 million in advanced ticket sales, which is the highest advanced sales of all time. That beats out any Batman, Spider-man, Star Wars, or Lord of the Rings movie that’s ever come out (although, yes, there are some inflation issues — maybe Gone with the Wind had huge pre-sales. We’ll never know.)
So the question is:
Will Harry Potter become the biggest weekend opening in history, beating The Dark Knight‘s $158 million? Before you answer, consider this: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince had the largest worldwide opening of all time with $394 million worldwide in a mere three days. That’s just insane.
