Noah’s Ark Was a Spaceship released their debut album Hanga Fang earlier this year on Omaha’s Slumber Party Records. Though they are an Omaha band aren’t trying to conform to the “Omaha sound,” that brand of heart on sleeve folk rock made popular in this area by the likes of Conor Oberst and Tim Kasher. They have a nineties alternative feel, that I appreciate having grown up in that era, but they do it without sounded outdated. “I’m Not a Father” is not one of the featured tracks from the album but it has become my favorite. With it’s steady drum push and chiming guitar it moves so smoothly that it feels even shorter than it’s 2:25 run time. In my opinion its the best track from a very strong debut.
